Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Online Coaching and Personal Training?

The biggest difference between having a trainer and having a coach is the time invested in the client, the relationship that is built, and the cost. I used to be a trainer at several big box gyms over the years, and most trainers are in for 2 years, get to wear sweatpants to work every day, clock in, clock out, and then move on to a different career. Most trainers charge between $80-$120/session. For 4 sessions per week, it would cost you $320/week, $1280/month, and $15,360/year; and this is only to workout (no nutrition or 24/7 accountability included). As a coach, I am your coach 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. I oversee your diet, which is single-handedly the most important aspect in the entirety of muscle gain and fat loss. It is safe to say working out without a structured nutrition regiment is pointless. I give you every workout and customize it to your schedule, equipment access, abilities, and goals. I hold your hand. I give you 24/7 acess to me, send weekly educational resources and motivational emails, and require weekly checkins to monitor your progress and hold you accountable. I can guarantee you results if you stick to the plan at the tenth of a cost of a personal trainer.

How does Online Training work?

Online Training is a month-to-month program (also offered in 3-month segments). Each week, you will send a check-in that includes your weight, your measurements, and your progress pictures. I will send you the required poses for your pictures. All of this information stays 100% confidential and is only seen by me. The check-ins are extremely important for me to track your progress as I am unable to see you physically in-person each week. Based on your progress and how your body is changing, I will make the necessary changes to your program (meal plan and strength/cardio workouts). I make myself available to you 24-hours per day, 7 days per week. I encourage my clients to text me with concerns and questions as well as asking for help with motivation and staying on track. If you are traveling for work or leisure, I design in-home, no-equipment workouts that can also be done in a hotel room or hotel gym. I will help you game-plan snacks you can prepare ahead of time, and if you go to a restaurant, I encourage you to let me know where you will be eating ahead of time so that I can scan the menu for you and give you some healthy options to choose from.

I've had a lot of personal trainers in the past. What makes you different?

In my opinion, anyone can take a certification test online and call themselves a trainer. What separates me as a COACH is my years of experience in the weight room, my knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and flexibility of the human body, as well as my business ethics and ability to program design. Most importantly, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Motivational Psychology. My passion not only lies in teaching you fitness and nutrition, but also helping you to build a strong mindset and teach you to be disciplined when your motivation runs out (which it will; motivation is a fleeting emotion). I create a strong foundation that goes deep into the most vulnerable aspects of your life, including your fitness history, nutrition history, medical history, lifestyle habits, desires and life goals, stress levels, relationsihps, etc. In order to change your life, I must understand and get to know you!

What's your coaching style?

I do not have one specific coaching style. I adjust my style based on my clientele. I would not coach a 17-year old male athlete the same way I would coach a 74-year old woman. This is why the consultation process is so important because I have the chance to learn who you are as a person and decide which way is the best way to help you succeed. If you want me to be a drill-sergeant, I can be. If you want me to add in weekly phone calls to speak positivity into your life, I can do that. If you want me to just send you the program and makes changes when necessary, I can do that. If you want me to text you to go workout and make you laugh while you are doing burpees so that you can focus on getting through the exercise, I can do that. If you want me to help you choose what to order at a restaurant or plan for vacation, I can do that. There is no one-size-fits-all coaching method. I adjust to you and what will help you succeed the most.

Can I refer people to you?

Absolutely! In fact, for every person that you refer to me that signs up, you receive 20% off your next month. That goes for every person you send to me! Furthermore, if you send me 3 new clients in one month, your next month is on me. My business thrives off of referrals, and if you help me out, I want to reward you!

What if I have never worked out before?

No experience is necessary! I treat every client as if they have never stepped foot in a gym before. For online coaching, I provide all the necessary tools (explanations & videos for technique) for each exercise so that you feel comfortable doing them on your own. I am also available via Facetime or Skype if the client wants to double-check their movements in front of me. The hardest part isn't often accomplishing the workout; the hardest part is usually just getting to the gym and starting.

What do I need to wear for my progress pictures?

Less is more! I recommend that my female clients wear a bathing suit, or sports bra/spandex shorts and my male clients wear a bathing suit or basketball shorts. It is crucial that I can see "you" when determining the next phase of your program. If you are fully covered or wearing baggy clothing, I cannot see the changes that are happening in your physique. Nevertheless, I want you to feel comfortable! Check-ins (weight and photos) are 100% confidential and for my eyes only! Hopefully, the more you start to train and change your daily habits, the more confident you will become!

Do I need to take supplements?

No. It would not be ethical of me as a trainer to require you to take supplements. I personally take supplements and can attest to the fact that they do help. However, you can still achieve results without them.

Do I really need to drink 1 gallon of water per day?

Yes! Technically, your body only needs half of your body weight in ounces of water. However, the more water you drink, the more hydrated your body will be, the more energy you will have, the better your organs will function, and the less salt (water weight) you will retain. During the first week, many people complain of having to "pee" often. It is simply your body adjusting to change. Once your body adjusts to the increase in your water intake, the more regular your trips to the bathroom will become. *If you don't like drinking plain water, feel free to add lemon, mint, or cucumber for flavor.

Can I still smoke and/or drink alcohol?

No. The point of living a healthier lifestyle is to eliminate unhealthy habits. Smoking and drinking hinder your physical and mental abilities. If you want to change your life, go all in. If you half-ass your effort, you'll get half-ass results.

Is my plan really personalized and specific to me?

Absolutely 100%. There is no one-size-fits-all health plan. We all have different bodies, different abilities, and different metabolisms. The reason you are required to send pictures each week is so that I can continually monitor your progress and alter your plan as needed. As your body changes, so does your plan!

How long will it take me to reach my goal(s)?

Well, there is no simple answer. What you put into this experience is exactly what you will get out of it. Even though you and your best friend have the same goal of losing 30 lbs and "toning" up your abs and glutes, that does not mean you and your best friend will achieve those goals in the same amount of time (especially if your friend is a different gender, age, weight, height, has a different body fat percentage, etc.) All I ask of you is to trust me in this process, do as I say, and you will quickly become addicted to living a healthier lifestyle.

What if I fail or cheat on my plan?

You are human. If you miss a meal, or have a few bites of your spouse's food, or you didn't prepare your meals and you grab something quick on the way home... I understand life happens. My job isn't to make you feel like sh&* or scold you. But let me tell you.... I can tell the difference between the bullshitters and the go-getters. I've worked with hundreds of people over several years. So, if you don't really want this and you're hoping I will wave my magic wand and make this happen for you, I'm not the trainer for you. You have to want it. You have to sacrifice. You have to say no to junk and alcohol. You have to choose this and prioritize this. If you don't, what are you really after?
